The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra is a string chamber orchestra founded in 2008 on the initiative of young artists. Since its establishment, the ensemble has consistently developed its own artistic identity, combining the classical chamber repertoire with contemporary forms of expression and projects that transcend the boundaries of the traditional concert format.
The orchestra’s achievements include more than 900 concerts performed in Szczecin, throughout the West Pomeranian region, across Poland and abroad. The ensemble has received the Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for its overall artistic achievements, as well as a Fryderyk Award in the Album of the Year – Chamber Music category. The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra has also received several nominations for the City of Szczecin Art Award.
Music Created Across Borders
The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra actively promotes Polish culture internationally by participating in numerous collaborative projects and prestigious festivals. The orchestra has performed in more than 27 countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Croatia, Italy, Greece and Lithuania.
The ensemble’s activities also include projects in Africa and Asia. Its musicians have performed in South Africa, Japan, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia, India and China. Each of these concerts provided an opportunity for different traditions, cultures and approaches to musical storytelling to meet.
Outstanding Musicians and Artistic Encounters
The artistic identity of the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra has been shaped by many distinguished musicians. The internationally renowned violinist and concertmaster Vasko Vassilev, who serves as the orchestra’s artistic director, has had a particularly significant influence on its development. The ensemble is led on a daily basis by violist Emilia Goch Salvador, whose work has brought together outstanding Polish instrumentalists involved in major national and international music projects.
The orchestra regularly collaborates with acclaimed composers, soloists and concertmasters. These have included Tomasz Tomaszewski, Marat Bisengaliev, Maria Machowska, Daniel Rowland, Marcelo Nisinman, Carmine Lauri and Adam Bałdych. The ensemble has also performed works by Mikołaj Górecki, Hanna Kulenty and Paweł Łukaszewski.
Encounters with artists representing different traditions and aesthetics ensure that the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra remains open to experimentation, new interpretations and unexpected musical connections.
Projects That Bring Music Closer to Audiences
One of the orchestra’s most important initiatives is Szczecin Classic, a classical music festival accompanied by a unique educational programme for emerging artists. The project creates opportunities to develop skills, gain stage experience and work directly with acclaimed musicians and educators.
The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra also organises the Na Okrągło Orkiestra project, through which outstanding artists from Poland and abroad perform in smaller cultural centres. As a result, chamber music reaches audiences beyond the largest artistic hubs, building new relationships and expanding access to culture.
Another important part of the ensemble’s activity is the prestigious Great Concertmasters series, which presents outstanding concertmasters from around the world. Each encounter becomes an opportunity to exchange experiences, discover new interpretations and create a programme together at the highest artistic level.
An Extensive Recording Legacy
The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra’s discography includes numerous albums presenting both classical music and contemporary works by Polish composers. Its releases include Marek Jasiński’s Ego Sapientia, Kompozycje Szczecińskie, Tribute to Carl Loewe, Sonatina für Alina, Il Tramonto, Paweł Łukaszewski’s Musica Sacra 5 and 4 am Tango, featuring Marcelo Nisinman.
The orchestra’s discography reflects its broad artistic interests – ranging from sacred music and the classical chamber repertoire to contemporary compositions and projects inspired by tango.

The partnership between Nowicki.Art Foundation and the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra is based on the belief that music and the visual arts can complement one another, creating new spaces for experience.
